a serial office runner, Frank Schiefer has now run for 4 offices. That's pathetic and a joke. In the recent trib article frank refused to acknowledge this is an expendable position. His opponent, Lois Wolf Geer did.
I'm sorry, but with someone with the work ethic and integrity of Lois Wolf Geer running this one's a no brainer. Im voting for Lois Wolf Geer.
Frank hasn't lifted a finger for candidates unless it directly benefited him. Even as the supposed ED of the party he's gone around and tried to undermine the party's efforts recently.
I am voting for Lois Wolf-Geer and I advise that everyone else do the same. Lois is dedicated and trustworthy - If i get called for Jury Duty, I want to see Lois Wolf-Geer in that office. She will treat jurors with a smile, respect and professionalism.
I believe anonymous (051709, 1642hrs) has his or her facts incorrect. Frank Schiefer is one of the most fiscally conservative people I know. In fact, he acknowledged that perhaps several offices could be consolidated. From the Tribune-Review, on 2 different occasions, "Schiefer, who works at a retail store, said he favors consolidation of some county elected offices." I've known Frank for about a year now, and I'm very satisfied with his views on expendable positions. Perhaps anonymous declined the use of a real name because they were just trying to smear Frank Schiefer and really didn't know all of the facts or wished to hide some of the facts to bolster the argument? I've had the chance to meet Lois Wolf Geer. I think she's a nice lady, but Frank Schiefer also has a fabulous work ethic. I've had communications with him early in the morning (6am-8am) as he was enroute to work at his retail job or to meetings to help GOP candidates get elected, and I've worked personally with him displaying signs or creating mailers, until the very late evening (11pm). Many of my days begin at 6am and end at 11pm, and Frank Schiefer's work ethic is equivalent. Frank Schiefer is currently helping several GOP candidates, and I don't see how they benefit him. He's been a strong, vocal supporter of Michelle Bononi and Harry Smail, our two local Commonwealth Court Candidates. He has supported Constable Chris Kent in his re-election campaign for Hempfield Constable. Incidentally, Chris Kent and I graduated together, and he's a fabulous pick for Constable. Frank Schiefer has supported Joe Lutz for School Director in Hempfield. He's supported several others as well, and those are the ones I know of. I'm sure there's more! In fact, Frank Schiefer and Suzi Scherff have helped me a lot in my campaign for Hempfield Auditor, and I don't see how that could benefit Frank at all. Frank is a very giving person, ready to do a great job for Westmoreland County, and is VERY supportive of all things related to the Grand ole Party! As for Anonymous's final sentence, Frank Schiefer would NEVER undermine the party’s efforts. Frank Schiefer supports open primaries, where intelligent people in all parts of the country can express their voice and opinion. I've worked with Frank Schiefer extensively over the last couple months, and he has never done anything in my presence to support any candidate that wasn't a good, solid Republican candidate. If anonymous has information to the contrary, I'd love to hear about it. If this forum isn't the best to discuss it, then anonymous is welcome to call me at 724-875-2037. I am voting for Frank Schiefer, and I'd recommend him to all of my colleagues. Frank Schiefer treats everyone with respect and professionalism. Frank Schiefer will bring his youthful energy and enthusiasm to county government! Good luck to all of the candidates running tomorrow in all races.
Perry - I'm not down on anyone. I just want to give my endorsement to Lois for this race. She is well suited for the office and will bring a level of professionalism to an otherwise dismal office. I mean seriously, who wants to get called to jury duty?!?!?! If Frank wants to shake up the courthouse, and I know that he does, I don't think Jury Commissioner is a good office to start. Lois will serve us well in this position. Frank should be running for a different office - where he can make a difference.
The way I look it is that Frank is young and would be able to serve several terms as jury commissioner while Lois will probably only serve one and the other guy is very old as well. Frank is a great guy and will be a great jury commissioner if elected. Most of the people supporting the other canidates arent as much for that canidate as they are just against Frank. Frank has worked hard for the party and never gets anything in return for all he has tried to do over the years. Frank is the best canidate and we need him to win tommorow.
But that completely defeats the purpose! Why would you want a guy like Frank - who wants to change the county government - to stay in office as Jury Commissioner for several terms?!?! Why do we want people to serve several terms at anything?!?!? People get stale if they are in a job too long. If you're voting for Frank because he could serve several terms, you're doing it for the wrong reasons and that is pure age discrimination against other candidates. Furthermore, I believe Frank wants to change county goverment, so let him run for an office where he is charge of a department, not answering to others. Perry - I KNOW you agree =) Don't deny it!
I am not saying Frank will serve several terms but he has the potential too. Lois was promised this as a sendoff for all her hard work and she is a great woman and I personally think she will do a good job but I think Frank will be great too! My bigger problem is that most people against Frank would help the devil if the devil ran for anything against Frank most just dont want Frank to win. Some people didnt like what Frank did with Bortz and others didnt like Dobtis or Frank supporting Pennento but he gave us a choice against Earl Keim. And he honestly believes that Paul Pennento would be a great PA Supreme Court Justice. He did Kim and George a favor for gettng Bortz thrown off the ballot but they did nothing in return for him. The voters will decide regardless I heard turnout was down but regardless I wish either Frank or Lois the best.
and it will be official all the Ward people need to learn to say Mr. Schiefer as he will be the only ELECTED republican official in the courthouse. sure we have an appointed commissioner but did the people elect him or the judges?? HUMMMMM well Frank I wish you all the best and we will live on to fight another day. I am gonna love being able to work with you in the future to not only make the county better but to do what the republican committee has lost sight ofand that is their purpose. To elect viable republicans whom can win in the generals. maybe we need a few cycles of losses for the committee to finnally get a whif of their true purpose, and not to take money bribes for endorcements. MR. Schiefer We Sallute you!!!!
You need to let it go and mend fences with Sen Ward's supporters. The jury commissioners office is not an office to mount an offensive to be the leader of the GOP in Westmoreland County. The leaders of the party in this county are Ward, Krieger and Reese.
He is such a great supporter of Republicans. So much so that he didn't include Michele Bononi on his list of 'True Republicans for Conservative Values slate card.'
Give me a break. I hope he likes the office for this four years. With divisive actions like that and undermining the party's endorsed ticket by supporting Paul Panepinto(impressive 946 vote showing out of almost 17000 cast...5.6% ouch...)he won't have a higher office EVER.
Frank doesnt have as much of a problem with Ward as he does with some of her people. Its really her people he really doesnt like. He has great respect for Senator Wards accomplishments and knows she is a very smart intelligent woman and politician. The reason he couldnt put Bononis name on their is because of Skip who was very good friends with Frank and helped Frank a lot. But Frank will get along with anyone and is willing to work with anyone to make sure Republicans win. He believes the Republicans should stop fighting amongst themselves and go out and beat the Democrats.
I have something to say to Elizabeth Yorio as far as you talking about age discrimination. Yes maybe it could be said in a way that I sounded like I was intending age discrimination against Harrison and Wolf-Greer but where in the world were people like you when people have used the same thing against Frank. For years people have said Frank is too young for this or that and people like you arent ready to defend Franks youth but I bet if someone said you or Ben Wren were too young for this or that then I guarantee you would be defending yours and Mr. Wrens youth.
Frank doesn't really have a problem with Senator Ward's people. THEY are the ones that have a problem with him. Them and the rest of the county committee want a puppet, a yes man and Frank can't be that way. He goes with the candidate that he thinks will do a better job. Please don't be offended Perry, but it's not as if Frank openly supported a Democrat. I don't understand what Elizabeth and Ben Wren (It's like he's joined at the hip to Joan Orie Melvin.) and everyone else has against Frank aside from his age. I think it is very sad.
Doesnt Frank have at least 4 years on Ben Wren and Wren has a job covering 10 counties for PAGOP and he works for Ward and all. I think thats a great accomplishment but I never hear anyone say he is too young to do what he does.
I guess Ben Wren is a genius just like Elizabeth Yorio. Anyway, if I were to run for office... For my staff, I would hire Elizabeth Yorio, Nathan Shrader, Ben Wren and yes, Frank Schiefer. They are all excellent young activists. By the way, you guys are all welcome to help me get my wife re-elected. She's awesome you know.
Nathan left a nice comment about Frank, but I think I may have accidentally rejected it on my blackberry. I agree. Frank is a good guy and an asset to the GOP. I hope all this works out.

What song do you think is running through Frank's head?

Why is everyone do down on Frank? Frank is really committed to the GOP even though it is apparent to me that many in the GOP are not committed to him.
The last time I saw Lois, I think she refused to even look at me because I supported a democrat. I always thought Lois and Gerry were nice folks.

I heard things got really nasty at the Executive meeting last night. Anyone know what actually happened?
