Commissioner Anderson

See, it looks like the judges did the GOP a favor. Maybe the GOP can hold their horses on the silly vote no on the retention of judges. It looks like the judges got this one right!

Republican Commissioner Charles Anderson, who replaced Ward last month, said he liked Bompiani but his presence on the water authority's board of directors could be dangerous to ratepayers.

"I was concerned about his record of tax increases. This impacts an awful lot of people, and we just have a philosophical difference of opinion," Anderson said.

I do feel a bit sorry for Bompiani. It is hard to be a school director because Harrisburg sort of passes the buck to the school districts to raise taxes. Oh well, I participated in the tagging of Bompiani as a tax loving school director too.

Who should be the new jury commissioner?

What is most scary, Perry (not intentional), is that even our elected (or appointed in this case) officials don't understand the nature of the tax structure in their jurisdictions. I was a school board member for Norwin for 12 years and the entire real estate tax system is set up so that Harrisburg politicians can brag that they didn't raise taxes and then force local unpaid residents on school boards to fight the battle with unions, mandates and then, ultimately, against the public. The very public that they are trying to protect...for no pay. Bompiani might set a trend whereby no one interested in helping their communities will ever want to be on a school board. Wait till you see your taxes then!!

I would love to see what the school system would look like with no tax increases over the past 10 years like Hempfield Township brags. Hempfield gets the advantage of tax revenue increases as people make more money, real estate only gets increases with additional assessments.

Excellent comment and true about taxes.

Why do we need a new jury comissioner?

Debbie Irwin is working with Kim Ward in the Senator's office and still working at the courthouse. She will be leaving her position as jury commissioner and not finishing her term.

I haven't heard that, but I may be out of the loop.

I am 100% certain that it was not Debbie. In all honesty, Debbie Irwin is a fun person to know.

I agree, but fun doesn't necessarily make a good state employee or elected official.

I would have Debbie Irwin on my staff any day. No reservations.

thankfully you won't have a staff anytime soon, PC
