My wife had a meeting with Kim Ward and Mike Reese yesterday

We knew that Kim Ward was a going to be a good state senator. Rhonda said her and her staff were great. But, she already knew Kim and some of her staff.

State Rep Mike Reese was there. Rhonda doesn't think she had ever met him. Rhonda told me he was very engaged in the discussion about education. Rhonda told me he demonstrated good analytical skills. She also stated he was very friendly.

I thought I would just take this opportunity to again state that I was wrong and Mike Reese is doing a good job as state represenative.

perry,

not to be confrontational, but why do you think Kim Ward would be good. every time I have encountered her, she has not had even a remote grasp of the issues and always seems to be more focused on getting her name in lights. I actually met with her when she was a hempfield supervisor and she was so clueless on almost ever issue the township faced. Just curious why you feel so strongly that she is good. I am not seeing it

I happen to be well versed in many issues and topics. I am well educated. I know a capable person when I meet one. I know Kim Ward pretty well and have worked with her. I know her to be intelligent and tenacious. Those are the two qualities we need in a state senator looking to make a difference in Harrisburg. I am right about this.

You must certainly know Kim much better than me. I hope you are correct. tenacious, yes. I really wish she would fight for the things that matter and not for insignificant, ridiculous topics to get in the trib.

PC,

did you watch any of Kim's debates? She must just be a terrible public speaker if she is really as smart as you say. Her debates were embarrassing. In one debate, she said she supported Rendell's health care plan then said she was against any form of tax. When a question came from the crowd telling her that Rendell's plan had a mandatory tax increase, she said "well then, I guess....I don't support his plan".

Is this a thoughtful, intelligent leader?

Yes, I did watch the debates and she did fine. I understand that you must be disappointed because Bompiani lost, but to fabricate that Kim is not intelligent, qualified or caring enough to be a good state senator is wrong. I screwed myself in the last election by not supporting the GOP's Mike Reese. If I had not thought Kim was the best candidate, I would have said so at the time. At that point, I had nothing to lose. But I didn't feel that way and I don't now. I feel I know her pretty well. I think she has great qualities. Obviously, the voters of Westmoreland County do to. She won for commissioner and senator by LARGE margins. I think she even has a shot at running for Lt Governor or US Congress in the future.

God help all of us! I think Chuck Anderson will be a better Commissioner than Kim could have ever hoped to be. Kim is not a team player. Here idea on lame duck session is just a headline grabber. A good proposal would be to change when these people take office so they don't stay in office so long after an election. I really don't want to pay all those people to work even less than they do now.

Face facts: People like Kim Ward. That is why she has won her elections by such large margins.

sorry to jump in the middle of this, but how in the world Perry to think people "like" kim. you know as well i do that 90% of the voting public do not know either candidate. kim won because she ran a negative campaign funded by the state republican party. the same reason Reese won and the same reason Kreiger won. Not to say all of them aren't great people and potential great elected officials but don't stretch to say anyone who voted for Kim "likes" her. they just bought into the negativity.

Tom Ceraso LOVES Perry Christophers blog! He cant stop commenting! Hilarious!

People I know personally and are friends with (republicans and democrats) like Kim. She consistently wins--BIG. So, folks must like her.

Yes, the Reese and Ward campaigns were negative. I thought Reese overreached with the argument of not moving meetings until evening. Kim simply pointed out Bompiani's record. It is difficult to be a school director because you are almost forced to raise taxes. Was it fair? I guess the voters thought so.

As far as I know, Krieger ran a positive campaign. I am a HUGE fan of Tim Krieger.

The thing I like about Tom Ceraso is that he signs his comments. So, if you don't see his name, don't assume it is him.

Perry, you are connecting words like "fair" in terms of campaign approaches. Kim Ward sent mailers of Bompiani out with strings attached to Rendell, when Bompiani opposed Rendell's tax increases and Kim supported them.....well until she took the time to read the bill and then didn't know what to support. Is that "fair"? Just because voters voted for her, means they were swayed. Was it "fair" for Bompiani to address the credit card scandal. Who knows? What we know is that it didn't work and Kim's tactics did. "Fair" has nothing to do with politics. Kim will say or do anything to win and that is the sole reason she gets high vote numbers. She is a master at campaigning. Will she be a good senator, maybe....hopefully

Perry,

It is true I do love your blog. It is the only venue for political discussion in our county. Although I haven't posted lately without my name

Perry, Kreiger ran a very negative campaign at the very end. He ended up convincing the state party to give him money and he blasted john boyle and his family. Ironic because Kreiger said in every debate that he was the small underdog candidate and he was a proponent of keep legislature the same size because guys like him couldn't get elected because they didn't have the big state pockets. This system needs to change big time

Trust me when I tell you that Tom Ceraso comments - on a regular basis, on blogs without signing his name. He rather enjoys posting nasty little comments and not attaching his name to them. Tom - don't be naive - there are many people that know about your love affair with posting anonymously. More than you would like - I'm sure.

Perry, just wondering do you know if Mike Reese's job at the court house has been filled yet? This was a job that the commissioners had created for him while he was running for State Legislator. Maybe since Ceraso reads your blog he will be able to tell us.

I did not see any negative attacks by Tim Krieger against anyone's family. That is not his way. Tim is a very good man.

At least on this blog, Tom Ceraso seems not to be anonymous.

For the record, it is hard to "trust me" when the post is anonymous.

I can show the mailers. I kept them. They are from the state party so maybe your argument is that the state party did it without Tim's approval but that would be an argument Kim likes to make

Perry,

I must tell you I am confused by someone that doesn't have the guts to post their name on your blog and assumes they know everything I do. I care about as much about their opinion as I care about the anonymous letters I get at my office. If something is bothering this person at least he or she could put their name to it. I am sure if I knew who the person posting about me on this thread was I would find out that it is someone that doesn't have to high of an opinion of me no matter what I do.

Perry Christopher said...

I agree with Tom Ceraso regarding anonymous assertions.

I bet Tim Krieger didn't really have a choice when the state caucus wanted to send out mailers. He did enough positive campaigning to win anyway.
