Check out this consistency from our county judges

In 2005, Pat Laughlin was removed from the ballot for filing his statement of financial interest only in the election bureau. Attorney Scott Avolio argued that this was sufficient to the spirit of the law. Judge Caruso disagreed.

Judge Ober just ruled to allow a candidate for clerk of courts stay on the ballot for the EXACT same violation.

Judge Caruso did send me case law backing up his opinion. But, the law is the law! Can we rule consistently. Do these judges look at each others' opinions? When you vote for judge this spring, please carefully research all the candidates. Please vote for the best legal mind! This isn't just about republicans and democrats, it is about justice! Vote wisely!

Of course, the irony is that Pat Laughlin is running for clerk of courts in the May primary.

Tom Clark Ford of Greensburg

Where did it go? No cars. Is it moving or out of business? Surely, Greensburg can support a Ford dealership.

To answer my own question:
Smail Auto Group in Hempfield last week bought Tom Clark Ford in the Greensburg area and moved the Ford dealership's vehicles to the Bud Smail Lincoln Mercury dealership along Route 30, said Mark Smail, company president.

Smail purchased the vehicles but not the property that housed the Ford dealership along Route 30, said Smail, who declined to reveal the purchase price. Tribune-Review March 31, 2009

Hurray for Rhonda!

My wife placed third in her age group in a 5 K she ran on Saturday.

She finished just ahead of Westmoreland County Judge candidate Michele Bononi.

Any readers take my advice...

and get Ray LaMontagne tickets at the Palace?

Went to the source last night...

My wife has been too busy to get online, so she hasn't seen the blog. She was unaware of the U2 tickets in Chicago and the poll. Anyway, the answer to the poll question is: No. She was not mad at all. Off to Chicago to see U2!!

Wednesday, March 25, 2009

Check out the new poll to the right.

I bought tickets to see U2 in Chicago. I didn't ask my wife. Who thinks she will be mad at me? Or is this a good test to see if she is really cool? It is U2 after all!

I was going to go to a Mike Reese fundraiser on 3/25 (honest), but I used the money on the U2 tickets. Just kidding! I know I promised to go to the first Reese fundraiser, but the timing of this one was really inconvenient. I will definitely attend one in the near future. My wife and I think Mike Reese is doing a very good job as state representative and would have attended the reception, but noon on thursdays is the worst possible time. Keep me on the list.

How to know your wife is cool.

Your bathroom is cluttered with running shoes vs. hand washables.

Kevin Acklin--A guy I really like from assorted campaigns

Seems Kevin and I always support the same candidates. Looks like he might be running for Pittsburgh mayor.

Harry Smail's website

How on earth was Harry able to get both his baby and dog to cooperate to take a good photo?

Congratulations to your photographer!

Unreal!

From today's Tribune-Review
(Peg) Luksik says (Pat)Toomey told her in February that he wasn't running for the Senate. She says it's up to Toomey to decide whether he want to risk dividing the GOP's conservative wing and allowing Specter to win a sixth term. (LINK)

Who is she to give Toomey an ultimatum? Snatching defeat from the jaws of victory! Nice work Luksik! I would much rather have Toomey in the Senate. Now is not the time for newbies. Toomey has the experience to be a much better senator!

District Attorney Peck to run again

I personally think he should quietly skulk away. No matter if you were for or against Regola, I think most would agree he handled the case horribly and should not be rewarded with re-election.

Tom Corbett for Governor

A friend tells me Glen Meakem is not running for governor. Source: Meakem's radio show. I firmly support Corbett for Governor if he chooses to run. Corbett is a proven statewide winner and a good person. He has also been an effective attorney general.

I thought being kicked off the GOP committee wouldn't affect me

Seems it would cost me an extra $5 to attend the spring victory dinner featuring Tom Corbett (who I admire very much). DRATS!

Luksik thinking of running for US Senate?!

Didn't she use to be someone? That would be STUPID. Split the conservative vote between Toomey and Luksik so Arlen can win the GOP primary. Certainly, we are smarter than this!?

Pat Toomey for US Senate

Pat Toomey is considering a run for the US Senate. We need him in the senate. It is time! I support Pat Toomey for the US Senate! You should too.

Obama's community health centers

President Obama wants the federal government to start community health centers.
WASHINGTON (Reuters) – President Barack Obama has been vague about details of his healthcare reform efforts, but he provided a hint on Monday of one direction he could take -- community health centers.

As he announced the nominations of his two top health executives, Obama highlighted the allocation of $155 million to 126 community health centers as part of the $787 billion economic stimulus package.

"These health centers will expand access to care by helping people in need -- many with no health insurance -- obtain access to comprehensive primary and preventive health care services," Obama told a news conference. link

I think he should rethink this idea and partner with those in the private sector who are already opening community health centers. Currently, Wal-Mart and Walgreens are doing this.

Fleetwood Mac at Mellon Arena last night

Lindsay Buckingham held the band together last night with an incredible performance and outstanding work on the guitar. I don't think he has ever really gotten his due because he had to be in a band playing all those sappy Christine McVie songs (thank god she isn't in the band). Seems the writer from the Post-Gazette agrees with me.
Buckingham is a pure live wire, and people who have never seen Fleetwood Mac might not know that if he hadn't ended up in this co-ed pop band, his name might be thrown around with guitar heroes like Neil Young and Eric Clapton. Buckingham can rip in numerous ways, from the frantic acoustic fingerpicking on "Big Love" to the nitro shredding on "I'm Afraid," which, contrary to the image of the 50-something ballad-loving Fleetwood Mac fan, drew the biggest roar of the night. Post-Gazette 2/2/2009

My favorite parts of the night were Lindsay Buckingham's performance (I Go Insane, my complete favorite) and my wife looking particularly good(really good). My least favorite part was I think the security guard enjoyed frisking me way to much.

Here is the set list:

• "Monday Morning"
• "The Chain"
• "Dreams"
• "I Know I'm Not Wrong"
• "Gypsy"
• "Go Insane"
• "Rhiannon"
• "Second Hand News"
• "Tusk"
• "Sara"
• "Big Love"
• "Landslide"
• "Never Going Back Again"
• "Storms"
• "Say That You Love Me"
• "Gold Dust Woman"
• "Oh Well"
• "I'm Afraid"
• "Stand Back"
• "Go Your Own Way"
(encore)
• "World Turning"
• "Don't Stop"
• "Silver Springs"
